If you haven't heard of it already, I highly suggest you check out Artist's Beware before commissioning artists. This site is extremely helpful when wanting to check out if certain artists are trustworthy or not.
Basically people post about bad experiences they had with commissioning people (or being commissioned by people) in order to warn others who might fall for the same trap.
If you ever paid someone for art and they didn't deliver, please gather up some evidence and create a post there. I'm very certain art trades count as well, even point commissions!

Selling my first character Niro
After a lot of thinking, I've decided that it's time to rehome the first character I ever made. Niro (that's where I got my username from) was created in 2010 and I used him actively until late 2013. I still love this character very, very much, but unfortunately I cannot find the time to draw much for myself, let alone give this little guy the love he deserves. So it only seems reasonable to me to sell him to someone who's able to take better care of him. Look, I'm all for updating your layout, but I just cannot be fucked to learn how to get around this site now, it's just exhausting. I've been away from dA for a good while now, months actually. Form will close in 1-2 hours, depending on the amount of submissions.
I will choose 2-5 commissions depending on complexity, please understand that I can't do them all and don't take it personally if I can't get to yours.

I can't say that I've ever had an issue with an artist, but I have had a few commission-ers that bailed on payment once receiving the unfinished/heavily watermarked version of their drawing. I thought that would be enough to discourage theft, but I was totally wrong 9__9
